Peekskill Parks, Waterfront & Outdoor Recreation

« Peekskill Real Estate & Local Guide

Peekskill has its own network of urban and wooded outdoor areas, distinct from the rugged Bear Mountain hiking trails across the Hudson.

Riverfront Green Park

The City of Peekskill describes Riverfront Green Park as a place for Hudson River views, picnics, playground time and community events. The waterfront location makes it a landmark for people exploring the city on foot.

Depew Park

Depew Park offers wooded walking areas and recreation facilities. The city has listed construction projects affecting some sports facilities, so check current access before planning a visit.

Charles Point and the Pier

The city's park directory includes Charles Point and Fleischmann Pier along with Riverfront Green, Fort Hill Park and other neighborhood parks. Park activities, fees and launch permits are not identical at every location.

Regional Mountain Recreation

For a more demanding hike, Bear Mountain lies across the Hudson on the western side of the river. My recorded 7.1-mile Bear Mountain-area loop included more than 1,500 feet of ascent and a rough stone descent.

Research Parks Before Buying

Compare proximity to riverfront paths, Depew Park, downtown destinations and transit from an actual home. Availability of public parking and walking routes can matter more than a straight-line map distance.
