Highland Falls Parks & Outdoor Recreation
« Highland Falls Real Estate & Local Guide
Highland Falls offers smaller village and town recreation spaces, while the greater Hudson Highlands provide major hiking destinations nearby.
Roe Park
The Town of Highlands lists Roe Park with sports fields, basketball courts, a playground, picnic facilities and limited fishing. Check community activity calendars and reservations with Town Recreation.
Memorial, Center Street and Ladycliff Parks
The town also identifies Memorial Park and Center Street Park in Highland Falls, plus Ladycliff Park, known for benches and a gazebo. These are more local, everyday recreation areas than the big regional mountain parks.
Bear Mountain State Park
Nearby Bear Mountain State Park offers hiking, wooded views, the Trailside Museums and Zoo, and seasonal recreation. Park rules, construction and trail closures may change; check the official source before traveling.
My Bear Mountain Loop
I hiked 7.1 miles on a Bear Mountain Loop via Twin Forts route, climbing on constructed stone steps and descending a much rockier trail. It was challenging in an entirely different way from many Long Island walks.

Choosing a Home for an Active Lifestyle
Compare the distance from a prospective address to public park entrances, not merely the mountain visible in the distance. Private property, public trails and restricted West Point lands have different access rules.
