Stony Point Parks & Outdoor Recreation
« Stony Point Real Estate & Local Guide
Northern Rockland's outdoor options go beyond hiking. Stony Point has its own local parks, riverfront history and golf, plus easy regional access to Bear Mountain and Harriman.
Stony Point Battlefield & Lighthouse
The Town of Stony Point history guide describes the 1779 battle and the historic lighthouse at the battlefield state historic site. Check state-site hours and access before arriving.
Charles S. Eccher Park
The town lists basketball facilities, playgrounds, walking areas and recreational features at Charles S. Eccher Park. For current facilities and permit information, use Stony Point Recreation.
River Front Park and Vincent Clark Park
The town lists Hudson River scenery and a fishing pier at River Front Park, and a boat launch at Vincent Clark Park. Water access and boating fees are separate considerations from ordinary park admission.
Patriot Hills Golf Club
Patriot Hills Golf Club is an 18-hole public golf course at 19 Clubhouse Lane with a distinct recreation and dining option for the area. Rates and reservations should be confirmed directly.
Bear Mountain and Harriman Trail Access
For a more strenuous workout, regional mountain trails add elevation and rugged footing. On my 7.1-mile Bear Mountain-area hike, the descent over jagged rock was more challenging than the climb on constructed steps.

See my Bear Mountain trail photos and hike notes. Consult official New York State Parks alerts for closures.
