Seaford, NY Shopping, Dining & Local Businesses

Seaford’s local business scene is spread across several corridors rather than one compact downtown. Merrick Road is the strongest concentration of restaurants, shops and everyday services, while Sunrise Highway adds larger commercial properties and quick-access businesses. South of Merrick Road, Seaford’s waterfront also has a small but distinctive group of waterside restaurants and neighborhood spots.

I’m John Cordeira, Broker/Owner of Cordeira Homes, and I’ve been helping Long Island buyers and sellers for more than 20 years. This guide is meant to be useful whether you already live in Seaford, are thinking about moving here, or just want to know where the community actually shops, eats and spends time.

Where Seaford’s Shopping & Dining Are Concentrated

Seaford does not have a traditional village-style Main Street. Instead, local businesses are spread primarily along Merrick Road and Sunrise Highway, with additional businesses along Hicksville Road, Jerusalem Avenue, Washington Avenue and the streets leading toward the waterfront.

The Seaford/Wantagh NY Rising Community Reconstruction Plan identifies Merrick Road and Sunrise Highway as the primary business and commercial corridors serving the area. That matches how Seaford feels in everyday life: you tend to move between clusters of businesses rather than park once and walk an entire downtown.

Merrick Road is the more locally distinctive corridor, with independent restaurants, boutiques, specialty stores, bakeries and longtime neighborhood businesses mixed with everyday services.

Local Dining in Seaford

Seaford has a surprisingly broad mix of restaurants for a community without a formal downtown. The strongest dining concentration is along Merrick Road, where you can find Italian, Mexican, pizza, tavern food, bakeries, desserts and casual neighborhood restaurants within a relatively short stretch.

Italian & Sit-Down Restaurants

Cara Mia, at 3935 Merrick Road, is a longtime Seaford Italian restaurant with house-made pasta, cocktails, catering and private-party options.

D&L Restaurant, at 3943 Merrick Road, combines Italian dishes with sushi and a full-service dining format.

Mexican & Lively Casual Dining

Frida’s Mexican Grill, at 3545 Merrick Road, offers Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes, cocktails and a lively dining-room atmosphere. The restaurant also serves brunch, lunch and dinner.

Neighborhood Taverns & Casual Spots

Bayview Tavern, at 3595 Bayview Street, is a local bar-and-grill south of Merrick Road. Other casual choices around Seaford include pizza shops, diners, delis, bagel stores and takeout restaurants that are part of the day-to-day rhythm of the community rather than destination dining.

Bakeries, Coffee & Dessert Stops

Capri Bakery, at 3434 Merrick Road, is an Italian-style bakery known for pastries, cakes, breads and traditional baked goods.

Sweet Spot Cafe, at 3787 Merrick Road, combines ice cream, gelato, candy, coffee and desserts in a casual cafe setting.

A Better Way to Explore Seaford Restaurants

Rather than treating this as a “best restaurants” ranking, use it as a starting point. Businesses change, menus change and new places open. Check each restaurant’s current website or social pages before making a special trip.

Waterfront & Dock-and-Dine Options

Seaford has something many inland Nassau County communities do not: restaurants that connect directly to the South Shore waterfront.

Anchor Down Dockside

Anchor Down Dockside is located at 2479 Adler Court on Seaford Creek. The restaurant promotes waterfront dining and arrival by boat, with seafood, steaks and other menu options. Its operating season can vary, so check the restaurant directly before visiting.

Crabby Amy’s

Crabby Amy’s, at Treasure Island Marina, 2880 Ocean Avenue, is a casual waterside seafood restaurant in Seaford Harbor. Its official site highlights local seafood, a clam and oyster bar and dock-and-dine access.

The Town of Hempstead also lists both Anchor Down Dockside and Crabby Amy’s among its water-accessible restaurant facilities in Seaford.

Independent Shopping & Local Specialty Stores

Merrick Road is also where several of Seaford’s more distinctive independent retailers are located.

Fun Stuff Toys

Fun Stuff Toys, at 3639 Merrick Road, is a family-owned specialty toy store. The business traces its roots back more than 40 years and has operated from its current Seaford location since 2001.

Food Shopping & Everyday Retail

Seaford also has supermarkets, produce markets, pharmacies, convenience businesses and service-oriented shopping that residents use for everyday errands. Larger shopping districts in neighboring Massapequa, Wantagh, Bellmore and Levittown are also within a short drive.

Everyday Convenience Matters Too

A local-business guide should not only focus on restaurants and boutiques. For residents, the useful part of a commercial corridor is often the collection of businesses you use repeatedly: supermarkets, bakeries, delis, cleaners, salons, fitness studios, medical offices, banks, auto services and takeout spots.

That mix is one reason Merrick Road and Sunrise Highway matter to the way Seaford functions. Most residential streets remain separate from the busier commercial roads, while everyday services stay close enough to reach quickly.

Supporting Local Seaford Businesses

The Seaford Chamber of Commerce has been connecting and supporting local businesses since 1925. Its member directory is a useful place to discover additional businesses and organizations beyond the examples on this page.

Local businesses open, close, relocate and change ownership over time. If you notice something here that needs updating, or if there is a Seaford business you think belongs in this guide, let me know and I’ll verify it.

Thinking About Moving to Seaford?

Restaurants and shopping are only one part of the picture. Where a home sits relative to Merrick Road, Sunrise Highway, the LIRR, parks, schools and the waterfront can all affect everyday convenience.

Frequently Asked Questions About Shopping & Dining in Seaford

Where are most restaurants and shops in Seaford?

Merrick Road and Sunrise Highway are the main commercial corridors. Merrick Road has a stronger concentration of independent restaurants, boutiques and specialty stores, while Sunrise Highway adds larger commercial properties and everyday services.

Does Seaford have waterfront restaurants?

Yes. Anchor Down Dockside and Crabby Amy’s are both waterfront restaurants in Seaford and are listed by the Town of Hempstead as water-accessible facilities.

Does Seaford have a walkable downtown?

Not in the traditional village-center sense. Businesses are distributed along several commercial corridors, so most residents drive between different shopping and dining areas rather than relying on one central downtown district.

Are there locally owned stores in Seaford?

Yes. Examples include Fun Stuff Toys, Uniquely Yours and Found Vintage & Antiques along Merrick Road, in addition to many independent restaurants and service businesses.

Where can I find more Seaford businesses?

The Seaford Chamber of Commerce maintains a local business network and member directory. Because businesses change over time, it is also worth checking current maps, business websites and social pages before visiting.

What Should I Add to My Seaford Business Guide?

I want this page to reflect the places people in Seaford actually use, not just the businesses that happen to rank well online.

If there is a restaurant, store, bakery, coffee shop, service business or longtime local favorite that belongs here, tell me about it. I’ll verify the details and keep building the guide.
