Wantagh Parks & Outdoor Recreation
Wantagh has a stronger outdoor-recreation mix than many Nassau County communities. The town combines a major waterfront county park, freshwater preserves and neighborhood recreation with direct access toward Jones Beach and the South Shore.

Wantagh Park
Wantagh Park, at 1 King Road, is a 111-acre Nassau County waterfront park that has been part of the county system since 1961.
The county lists five tennis courts, basketball, lighted baseball and softball fields, one-mile and two-mile walking routes, a two-mile fitness trail with exercise stations, playgrounds, picnic areas and seasonal miniature golf.
Pool Complex
Wantagh Park also has a seasonal swimming complex with an Olympic-sized main pool, diving pool, children's pool, training pool, interactive water-play area and water slides. Fees, hours and Leisure Pass requirements can change, so check Nassau County before visiting.
Boating, Fishing & the Blueway
The park includes a marina, boat-launch facilities and a fishing pier. It is also a South Shore Blueway launch and landing location for non-motorized boaters.
Dog Run & Fitness Trail
A dog run has separate areas for larger and smaller dogs, while the two-mile fitness trail incorporates stations for exercises such as stretching, pull-ups, sit-ups and balance work.
#RippedRealtor Outdoor Workout Idea
For a simple conditioning session, use the Wantagh Park loop for a run or brisk walk and mix in bodyweight work at the fitness stations. It is a practical local option when you want training outdoors instead of another treadmill session.
Twin Lakes Preserve
Twin Lakes Preserve is a 58-acre Town of Hempstead preserve in Wantagh with five freshwater ponds, wetlands, woodland and hiking trails.
The town identifies bird watching, fishing, hiking and nature study as primary activities. Access points include Park Avenue, Old Mill Road and areas near Forest Lake School.
Forest City Community Park
Forest City Community Park, at 3099 Morgan Drive, is a Town of Hempstead neighborhood park with a lake, recreation facilities and a short nature trail. The town's trail guide lists a roughly half-mile nature route with exercise stations.
Jones Beach State Park
Wantagh is closely associated with Jones Beach because the Wantagh State Parkway provides the classic route south toward the barrier island. Jones Beach is a major regional destination for ocean swimming, boardwalk walks, fishing, recreation and events.
I built a separate Jones Beach State Park & Wantagh guide because the park deserves more than a paragraph on this page.
Walking, Running & Cycling
Wantagh Park and Twin Lakes Preserve provide very different experiences: one is an active waterfront recreation complex and the other is a quieter freshwater preserve. Together with neighborhood streets and the route toward Jones Beach, they give residents multiple options for walking, running, cycling and outdoor training.
