Making the most of your current space

The best space for a home office is in a spare bedroom, but if this isn’t an option, try using an area of your home that’s not often used. For example, living rooms are often unused during the day, so consider rearranging the furniture to allow for a desk and chair. You can arrange the furniture in such a way that will help create a somewhat private space—consider using bookshelves or even room dividers to section off your workspace.

Another creative use of space is turning a closet into a workspace. When you’re transforming a closet into an office, make sure you buy a narrow desk that will fit inside, or get crafty by building your own. Be sure to include a light source, whether it’s a simple desk lamp or some LED lights you can hang from the top of the closet.

If you’re struggling to find space in your home, consider making use of the backyard: prefabricated offices are great for business owners who need a quiet, private workspace away from others. There are plenty of different designs and sizes out there, so do your research and find an option that’s within budget.
